Watch Him Go!

I have a very special video to share!!  Not only does it show Ryder standing up by himself, but it shows him walking, and if you listen to the music in the background you can see him singing & dancing along to the songs on his movie.  Wow, that was a total spoiler, but I’m just so excited I couldn’t keep it in…

I can’t believe that I’ve been witnessing him walking!  The past few days he has stood up and took a few steps here and there, just like that, and every time my heart beats so fast and I am just overcome with excitement…I don’t know if the shock will ever wear off.  At his last therapy evaluation they didn’t think he’d be walking until around the age of 2, so this is a HUGE milestone and is a great sign that all of this new therapy is really working!

A Visit from Uncle Tim!

My oldest brother Tim is a Chief in the Navy and is currently stationed in Hawaii…so we were all so surprised when we found out that they were sending him to VA Beach for training and he was going to be able to come visit for the weekend!  I’m sad that we didn’t get to see Ashley & Trinity too (his wife and daughter) but was still super excited to get to spend a little time with my big bro.  And it was nice for him to get to know Ryder, he hasn’t seen him since he was a newborn.  Here are some pictures from our day with my family:

 

Ryder entertained us with his new move – he figured out how to stand up without holding onto anything!  Too bad I didn’t think to record it instead of just snapping pictures.  It was pretty amusing, especially since the whole reason he wanted to stand was so that he could dance!

      

Flashback Friday

Seeing shoes on Ryder’s feet makes me feel like he’s such a big boy now.  I guess that’s because he IS a big boy now (unless you ask him, then he’ll tell you he’s a “baby”!).  But I can’t help but flashback to the very first pair of shoes we ever put on him, his little Harley booties, the day we got to bring him home from the hospital. 

We Have Shoes!!

I’ve been fighting with Ryder for the past few days to let me put a pair of shoes on his feet.  I tried to start simple with just socks, but it didn’t help, he wanted them “offff, offff” because they were “stuck”!  So the shoes didn’t go over any easier.  He has an appointment with the Podiatrist next Thursday (thanks to Jelena…more on that after the appointment), which means that Orthotics are right around the corner, so I knew it was time to get serious about this shoe thing.  Luckily, Nana is better at being serious than I am!  She told me to send shoes over with him every day this week, and she’ll have him wearing shoes by Friday.  Easy enough!  And what do you know…yesterday was Day 1 and this little stinker came home with shoes on his feet that he had on all day long, without fussing once!  Until I got there of course, then all of a sudden his shoes were “stuck”, he needed “help”, he wanted them “offffffff”.  But I didn’t cave and he kept them on all evening too :)

 

Uh-Oh, time for a meltdown because I wouldn’t let him go “night-night”…look how cute that sad face is! 

Best Buddies

Beasley, in all of her rambunctiousness, went to stay with Uncle G last week.  It was a great vacation for her, so that she could be spoiled and treated like the Princess that she is.  But it was also great for us because we were able to let Bubba have free reign of the house since he’s gentle enough to be around Ryder.  I knew Ryder would love having Bubba out of his cage, but I didn’t know he would love it as much as he did!  Bubba is his newest obsession…he talks about him all day long and wants to include him in everything he does.  Their relationship is so sweet, and comical, Ryder is very lucky to have Bubba as a “big brother” and best buddy!

This & That

Let me start by saying that we finally have a new computer!!  Thank goodness!  It has taken me some time to get it all set up and navigate my way through, but I’m comfortable with it now and happy to be blogging from home again!

With that said, here are a few pictures of this & that that I wasn’t able to post throughout the week:

Someone got ahold of the bag of goldfish…I think he was trying to hide the mess!

 

We had a double date with Nicki & Mikayla one evening…these two love birds make me smile!

 

We also had a cookout with some friends in our neighborhood, and Ryder had a blast in the Barbie jeep!

Just to add to the randomness of this post, I want to make note that we finally made it back to Church today.  I’m embarrassed to admit that we had taken a long break because of how upset Ryder was getting in the nursery.  But Grandma offered to go back there with him, so we took her up on that and he did GREAT!  I’m so glad to finally be getting back to normal life: being able to blog AND making it to Church on Sunday’s :)
